New Crocs and Some Thrift Store Finds

The kids and I went out shopping yesterday.  The first stop was at Whole Foods to pick up some bran muffins, milk, and the Crocs Kids Cayman Shoe.  Yes, Crocs.  They sell them at Whole Foods.  Cool.  But you can also find them at Amazon and other places.

And yes, those are the shoes we bought, on my little princess’s feet, and that is a real step inside my old house, with peeling paint and all.  Am I surprised that my princess picked out monkeys to decorate her new Crocs with?  No.  We all sort of act like monkeys around here anyway.

While we were out we stopped at one of my favorite thrift stores and found some nifty-thrifty things to bring home – as always. I am not sure which is my favorite item. Maybe my new apron?

Now, last but not least, is a really fine chess set that my 16-year-old son found.  He collects chess sets.  I was just as happy that he found it as he was.

So I would say we had a profitable day.  It was a fun day anyway.

And we had a very healthy lunch.  If I ever break down and swing through McDonald’s (yuck) with the kids, I end up spending 20 dollars and we don’t even feel good after we eat.  Whole Foods was very busy, so the thoughts of turning all the kids loose at the hot bar did not thrill me either (the time, risk of spilling something, and the money!).  So I decided to pick out lunch for myself and the kids while we were in Whole Foods, and I didn’t even ask them what they wanted!  I bought four whole wheat rolls, a pound of homesyle tuna salad, and a bag of New York Cheddar Kettle Chips.  The kids at least got to pick their own drinks and they did get a six-pack of peanut butter chocolate chip cookies.   Yum. 

They loved the sandwiches.  I knew they would.  We made the sandwiches while sitting in the van and then ate our wonderful meal as we drove home.  A rolling-down-the-highway picnic.  Fun stuff.
