Doll House Accessories
By Lynn, on December 21st, 2007
When you go thrift store shopping, always look at things with an eye for what they could be in your doll house. Crocheted pot holders make great doll house blankets.

This is a nice, crocheted pot holder but look how warm it keeps Strawberry Shortcake!

Trivets made from various textiles make great rugs!

This bright yellow trivet makes a great rug in our doll house.

The great thing is that most things like this only cost about a quarter. It does not have to be expensive to have a great doll house. Teach your daughter to bargain shop for her doll house just like we bargain shop for our real houses!

About Lynn
I am the mother of four delightful children: a 23-year-old son, a 20-year-old son, a 17-year-old son, and a bright and bubbly 13-year-old daughter. I share an apartment home with my 17-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. My little home on the internet is called Rose Cottage because of my love for gardening, roses, and all things romantic and Victorian. Welcome.
I'm a North Carolina girl and I love sharing North Carolina links and information. I do medical transcription from home. My hobbies include making sweet little dolls from clay who are named and have their own stories to tell. I also make old-fashioned brooches. These are for sale in my Etsy shop.
For 13 years continuously, I homeschooled some or all of our four children, but the time came that our homeschool had to be closed. It was the end of a beautiful chapter in my life. I will always be a strong supporter of homeschooling and I will continue to review books and maintain my homeschool website, The Healthy Homeschool.

My Symphony
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.

Hey Lynn…can we see the whole house? I have a bookshelf type of dollhouse like this http://blogshewrote.blogspot.com/2007/07/accomplishments-in-our-littlest-room.html
I don’t have lots of rooms and stuff. Can I pull it off? I have just really enjoyed my short time with your journey tonight…thinking of how I can do the same with my dd.

Thanks Heather!
This post ( http://www.amothersjournal.com/?p=258 ) contains a picture of the doll house all set up. So far we have two book cases that were turned into houses, and two extra boxes that we covered in fabric to make rooms. One sits atop each shelf. You can see them all set up. We are thinking of adding another book case. Maybe some time in 2008! ~:-D I will try to post more about size soon.
I think you can pull it off! You can still make things, buy things for it, and I think the most important thing is spending the time, doing things together and using it as a gentle teaching tool!
