More Painting with Acrylics
By Lynn, on December 31st, 2007
I had so much fun painting the first picture last night, I just couldn’t stop. ~:-D My daughter said, keep painting, Mama. So I did. (She thinks I am an artist, which should fully tell you how little real art we’ve studied.)

My second attempt, and then I had to put the paints away. With this painting, I tried to just quickly paint my mood. That was really fun. It’s called Fall Garden. This has intensified my interest in getting my daughter some art lessons. I think she would appreciate it so much as she gets older and wants to fill her time with lovely things. I know I am wishing now that I had had some earlier in life.
So the doll house accessories…

Did we do too much pink? The canisters are bright, I know, but we are talking about dolls. I am not sure what we’ll do with the rose, but it’s pretty anyway. Some little friends of my daughter’s showed her how to easily make a rose from clay.
I like the clock.

About Lynn
I am the mother of four delightful children: a 23-year-old son, a 20-year-old son, a 17-year-old son, and a bright and bubbly 13-year-old daughter. I share an apartment home with my 17-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. My little home on the internet is called Rose Cottage because of my love for gardening, roses, and all things romantic and Victorian. Welcome.
I'm a North Carolina girl and I love sharing North Carolina links and information. I do medical transcription from home. My hobbies include making sweet little dolls from clay who are named and have their own stories to tell. I also make old-fashioned brooches. These are for sale in my Etsy shop.
For 13 years continuously, I homeschooled some or all of our four children, but the time came that our homeschool had to be closed. It was the end of a beautiful chapter in my life. I will always be a strong supporter of homeschooling and I will continue to review books and maintain my homeschool website, The Healthy Homeschool.

My Symphony
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.

Great second attempt too! One idea on economical art lessons…You could find someone in your church or community that would trade art lessons for something you do/have. That is how we do piano lessons. My friend teaches my kids, and I babysit for her and her dh when they go out of town. Also, I had a friend doing art lessons, she was young and just did it for practice. She worked at the montessori school in town. She moved recently, so we are looking for another teacher soon. Until then, they paint with my mom, who is a fabulous artist.
Alana, thank you so much for the idea about lessons. I would love to see your mom’s artwork. My problem is having enough time for painting and lessons, but I think to get lessons for my daughter would be fantastic! If you read my New Year’s post, then you know my husband wants me home in 2008. Hopefully…

You guys totally rock at acrylics! I love the dollhouse accessories. Very nice clock.
I found after crafting today with Sculpey that will be our medium of choice for accessory making. I even mentioned as much. Check it out if you’d like to see.
I ended up using a journal to communicate with my dd while on this journey. So not me, but I thought it would be a good way to leave notes and it was how I invited her on the journey on Christmas morning.
By the way, how can I get a code or make a code to link the thumbnail picture of your den back to your blog. Do you know how? Want to send it my way? How’s that for trying to make my life easy??

I want to try Sculpey. I can’t wait to hop over to your website. We really enjoyed making our own clay, but it tends to crack. I guess I haven’t figured out the perfect balance of water to add and then how long to bake.
To link to my blog, you use an a href tag. You would put the following information within the brackets that look like less-than < signs and greater-than > signs:
a href=”http://www.amothersjournal.com”
then put your image link in between, also contained within the same kind of brackets.
then follow with /a to end the link, also contained within the same brackets.
Does that make any sense?
It will look like this, but replace the brackets I use here with the brackets I used above. I cannot show you here as it should look exactly because it will show as a link and you won’t see the actual code
(a href=”http://www.amothersjournal.com”)(img src=”where ever your image is stored)(/a)
