A thrift store kind of day

I have had so much fun today.  It’s been very relaxed.  I had to take a day to myself and go thrift store hopping.  Today was not a day of 5-minute walk-throughs.  Today was the kind of thrift store shopping day where you look at every single thing on every single table.  ~:-D

(My daughter thinks that you’ll think she’s in the pictured T-shirt, but you know she’s just crouching behind the couch, right?  I thought so.)

Today’s catch:

  • Four pairs of kids’ jeans
  • One pair of girl’s sweats
  • Two girl’s T shirts
  • Pajama pants for me
  • Framed Jessie Willcox-Smith print
  • 17 books
  • A new sweater for me
  • Two blouses for me
  • A cool, military-type T-shirt for my oldest boy
  • A beautiful, old wooden trinket box
  • Some old silverware
  • A pajama top for me

And probably more, but that’s what I can think of right now.  Some of the treasures I expound on a little more over at my other site, Lynn’s Victorian Treasures.

You know how I love books, and any time I see a FIAR book that I can put in our collection, I buy it.  I think my children will want copies for their children.

I found a sheer black blouse for me, which of course I will wear over a black tank or similar.  It’ll be nice for when we go out to eat.

On the way home, I stopped by Barnes and Noble to pick up something that Barb from FIAR mentioned.  It’s the Paperclips Movie.  It’s about a rural Tennessee school that ends up doing an amazing thing or two while studying the  holocaust.  We are planning to view this as a family on Thursday evening of this week.

In light of our painting efforts of late, I think this was a good find.  A coloring book – with only two pages colored on at all — of many great masterpieces.

I guess that’s all for now.  Hope your Tuesday has been as good as mine.  Now tomorrow I have to buckle down and get some grocery shopping done and straighten the house up and write up some lesson plans.

  • What great finds!
We have tons of thrift stores in our area but I can never seem to find anything! :(
I am going to really start taking my time and looking more carefully!

    Wishing you a blessed day!

I live in an area that’s just bounding with great thrift stores. I donate in addition to shopping. Many of the stores are set up to help the schools and churches, so a lot of folks donate. I do think going in regularly, though, helps out too. Happy Shopping! Lynn ~:-D

  • Great finds! I love shopping in the thrift stores near me and finding treasures. :-)
