Enamel Top Table

So my cleaning schedule had me in the kitchen today, as well as the pantry and the hallway.  I have been thinking that one of these weeks in the kitchen I would clean my kitchen table really good.  It’s an old enamel top table that I found at a thrift store about 12 years ago.  I really love it.

Today was the day.  I turned the table upsidedown and cleaned the wood underneath with a dampened cloth and then went over it with wood restorer when dry.

The chairs came from a local antique store.  The story was that they were purchased in England, and I do believe they were telling me the truth.  The particular dealer they came from is a doctor who travels to England regularly.  Antiques is her hobby.  The funny thing was that when we got them home, there was a tag underneath some red paint on several of the chairs that showed they were made in Winston Salem!  Either someone was confused, or these chairs went from NC to England to NC again.

Yes, this table has lots of wear and scratches, but I think it fits right in!

I have an almost identical table but smaller. It’s stamped Cresco, Newark NJ. The top is exactly the same and the base is almost exactly the same too. I’d upload my photos to show you but I dont’ see a way to do it here.

    Hello Lynn,

Your website is lovely. I was researching enamel top kitchen tables when I came across your site.
Love your table and chairs. Your photo’s and garden chat is refreshing.

I too have a Cresco, Newark NJ stamped enamel kitchen table that I bought while running the roads in West Va. A great yard sale find. Mine is white with black table top trim. I came to a sudden detour when I noticed a yard sale.

Like yourself I imagine, I too like to visit thrift shops. So many vintage items to treasure hunt.

Keep up with your site. It’s most becoming. Karen

  • Karen, thank you so much, and thanks for leaving a comment! Would love to see a picture of your table! I know what you mean about sudden detours! :) Don’t know what I’d do without thrift stores! Lynn

I have a vintage porcelain or enamel top table, I’m thinking probably from the 40′s or 50′s, and it’s kind of a mustard color and dark green around the edges and on each corner of the table there is a design of squirrels and leaves. It’s very unique and I’ve never seen one like it. Can you tell me about how much it’s worth? I do not want to sell it, but I would like to know where to find chairs that would go with it.

    Thanks.

  • I really would not be sure about the value of your table. I wish I could help you. I always do a search on line and combine that with an inquiry to a local antique store if I am curious about the value of something. Best wishes!
