Gloriously Arrayed

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

Therefore, I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on.

Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?

Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.

Are ye not much better than they?

Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?  And why take ye thought for raiment?

Consider the lillies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither do they spin.

And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.

Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?

A few of my flowers just starting to bloom right now.  I am amazed, year after year, at the breathtaking beauty of God’s creation.

Frugal Shopping and Frugal Cooking

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

I have been busy this morning putting food in the freezer.  My internet buddies know that we eat a lot of venison here, so ground chuck is a treat for us.  Yesterday Food Lion had ground chuck on sale for 1.32 a pound.  So I bought 12 pounds.

I systematically put seasoned burgers into the freezer for inexpensive, easy cooking later on.  The meat was put in a large pan to be seasoned with salt, pepper, and garlic powder and mixed well.

I use a small stainless steel lid to cut the flattened ground meat into a perfect circle.

This system saves me the time and effort of having to make patties by hand.  The patties are stacked between little pieces of wax paper, put into a freezer bag, labeled, and into the freezer they go.

I froze three bags of 12 each for 36 burgers.  That’s 44 cents a burger.  :)

The more I save, the more debt we can pay off and the more I can be home.  :)
