Did I say once that I wanted to live in the country? I didn’t mean it.
Through the years, I have come to adore living close to town. I am a mile from several quaint little antique stores, the post office, a handful of great downtown restaurants, a bookstore (be still my heart), and a brand new co-op grocery store with every thing organic and fresh anyone could want.
After working for a while in the garden, I loaded a package into the bicycle basket and headed to the post office. On the way back, I stopped at one of the little vintage shops and bought a new something for my desk.

This is actually an old brush and comb holder, but I am using it for pens and to attach memos and my calendar too. The old roses fit in with the office theme.
May 1st Sights From The Garden

The birds love this blue birdbath as much as I do.

An old enamelware bowl hangs from the potting bench — my work area on the porch. I love it…

The allium — blooming garlic — is so profuse this year. I must thin it out. Did I say that last year, too?

There’ll be a clematis bloom soon. There’s clematis springing up at the base of two arbors.

I moved some of the rosemary seedlings into bigger pots today…

and transplanted four baby aloe plants…

and put my “plants for sale” sign up. There are many things potted up that are ready to sell. Some of the things I potted up today will have to mature a bit though.

There’s room for a big bird here under the grape vine.

This Knock Out rose is covered in pale pink blooms. Hmmmm… Do I have room for a red Knock Out rose?

I just love your garden/gardening. I have a black thumb and never quite know where to start .
I started with a small square in the front yard. I put herbs and roses in it. Then, from there I added and added and eventually the whole front yard turned into garden.
I bet your thumb is really green…

lynn, i love to linger in your garden, it’s beautiful!
I do love living out a wee bit, but it would be nice to be able to just hop on a bike and meander through the shops of our tiny town. I do love antiques also.

Thanks, Stacy! My front yard is not that big at all, but — little by little — it’s turned into all garden. I do enjoy it.
Patricia, I still sometimes think I would like to live in the country. (You live in a beautiful part of the world!) I’ve been in town so long now though, and getting older…
I guess I’m spoiled.
