A New Doll Clothes Chest
Written by admin on May 24th, 2008On my thrift store hunts, I am always looking for something inexpensive that I can take home and turn into something really useful and pretty. I spotted something like that not long ago.

This well-made wooden chest is exactly the right size for a child’s room — think Princess of the Universe — and it was only 3 dollars! It’s just that the ducks have to go, and I’m not crazy about this color of wood either. Oh, I was in the 80s when it was so popular, but not now. So out comes the spray primer and the antique ivory spray paint.

The dolls sit happily on top of the chest. I like that this chest can also be used as a step stool for Princess of the Universe to get things from her closet or to climb up onto the bed.

And what doll family doesn’t need a pretty wooden chest for their doll clothes? It might even be nice to throw in a sachet filled with lavender from the garden.

Good-bye little ducklings– hello shabby chic!
You have such a great eye for turning things into beauty! I think the lavander sachet would be a nice touch!

Oh thanks, Michele! I did consider keeping the ducklings, but… it just didn’t work out.

Love it! My dd could use something like that…love those dolls btw.
Her birthday is next week and we’re adding Samantha to the mix. Expensive and yet she doesn’t take up lots of space! I’m milking it while it lasts. LOL

PS- when you only have ONE princess, you have to go for the dolls, right?
How is your year of the dollhouse coming along? We’ve made some recent additions and I need to blog them and we need to PLAY more!

Heather, Year of the Doll House is in the front of my mind all the time, and we do play, but I’ve been very slack about blogging about it. Now that I’m back home and my job training is over, it’ll be on the front burner again. Also, Alana sent me the coolest book.
Even though we don’t actively play every single day, it’s been the best thing for me to keep in my mind. Just the whole concept of Year of the Doll House has caused me to take more walks with her, read more books to her, and just pay more attention in general.
