Sumi-e Landscape
Written by admin on June 12th, 2008My children think I’m okay at this. I think I really found something I like to do.

This was my first attempt at just doing something — a landscape — without following a step-by-step page from the book.
Whether I’m good or not, one really cool thing has come from my efforts: my children are getting inspired to try Japanese ink painting for themselves!

This looks like fun…and you did a great job! I’ve always wanted to devote more time to learning to paint well. My boys are showing interest now, so we may do just that before long.

You are great at this new found art form Lynn - I love what you’ve done and it’s great to inspire the children to follow.
I’ll be expecting a show soon - invite me to the reception please!!!!
Still no rain here - I’m getting desperate, especially for the veggies, as watering just twice a week (all we’re allowed) isn’t doing it in this heat! I feetl we’ll have a poor harvest come July and Aug., so disappointing.
Did the smoke the from huge wildfire in Eastern NC reach you yesterday? It was heavy here and smelled bad all day - hopefully a bit clearer today.

Sandra, thank you! It is so much fun. I know it’s obvious I am totally a beginner, but it’s just so relaxing. It’s a combination of certain brush strokes and learning to put emotion into what you are doing. It’s fun.
Mary, you are so funny! You will be the first one I send an invite to when I have my first show.
Yes, the smoke was in the air yesterday. Very worrisome. I feel so badly for all who have suffered from the fires.
We need rain too. We do have the rain barrels, but we need more than that. I don’t want a repeat of last year’s drought!
