I’ve nothing profound to say. I can wonder, where did the day go? And so quickly! The days fly by!

Summer is here. The phlox is in bloom. So pretty. It’s hard to be melancholy about the days passing so quickly when there are such beautiful things as flowers to keep one preoccupied.

Yes, it’s fully summer. The echinacea is in bloom.

I am content to stand under an arbor. Just stand. And while away the minutes. Summer is the height of life in the garden. It’s okay to just stand and enjoy it. Right?

The trumpet vine grows up the side of the house and sends down long, long tendrils covered in orange trumpet-shaped blooms. It creates a hiding place in one of the garden beds.

But that’s what summer does. It creates hiding places in the ever-thicker-growing garden. Shall we go in?

Hidden behind a wall of vines, it’s shady and cool against the brick foundation of the house. Looking down…

there’s an oxalis bloom. We’d never have known it was growing under here had we not come into the hideout under the trumpet vine.
We better go back out. We’re not as little as we used to be. At least I’m not.

Anyway, there’s watering to do. And butterflies to watch…

If you look closely, you’ll see the V-shape of a black swallowtail in flight, right over the weathered wooden stool in front of the goldfish pond.

On the shady side of the garden, the ferns are a beautiful sight.

And whatever this is (above), it comes by the dozens, every year, with yellow blooms. I have no idea what it is, did not plant it, but I like it!

Oh, the lilies! No words needed.

Entertaining insects flitting and buzzing around are always appreciated.

And the cats in the neighborhood… They know which garden is THE place to be.

I know you haven’t forgotten Tasha Tudor. Feel free to use my little button in the left sidebar if you want to send people to her website. I am always surprised to meet people who are as yet unfamiliar with her work. I think people should know about her.

There should always be time to stop and smell a gardenia bloom.
Is it really time to go inside? Really?
Well, there are things to be done inside. One thing on the list is a new curtain for my bathroom to cover up the shelves built into the wall. Old houses…

require creativity.
It’s time now to sit down and relax and dream about — hopefully — another day tomorrow.

Lynn – Your garden is beautiful. It looks like a very peaceful place. Thank you friend for your words of understanding and encouragment. You are a precious friend!
I miss seeing you – and sorry I missed your phone call awhile back. I would love to see you and catch up sometime!
Love,
Leslie
Wonderful post, such great plants and what looks like a wonderful garden. The plant that you don’t know the name of is Senna alata/Cassia alata we call it candlestick plant here.
Thank you, Leslie. I am so happy you stopped by and left a comment. I will call you again. I really want to get back in touch with the group. My schedule is looking good for that and for this next year with Princess of the Universe.
Thanks, Vanillalotus! Thank you for the information. I have actually looked at that plant before — found it on line, but was not sure. If the yellow blooms on my plant hang down more than stand up, could it still be the same plant? I’ll keep posting pictures as it grows and blooms.

Hope you have a wonderful weekend!
Vicki
Vicki, I posted late last night, and then this morning I had to work. I’m on my lunch break right now. Glad you missed me! Yes, I think the rain has been good. We needed it!
I usually don’t bring flowers in because I just don’t have time these days to cut them and then dispose of them when time, but some day! It’s just a season.
