Shabby Chic Thrift Store Finds
Written by admin on August 21st, 2008Oh, I thrifted some pretty shabby-chic things to use in my current redecorating phase. (Poor hubby.)

This old baby dress with a tiny neck and precious little buttons will be so pretty hanging up on a satin-covered baby hanger. Now, where will I hang it?

This basinette skirt is wonderful. See the pale, pale yellow of the flowers in the fabric?

No, I don’t need a basinette skirt, but I can just see this fabric as a shelf curtain or a sink skirt. Ohhh pretty!

I got this cabinet for a steal! Only 6 dollars because it “needed repair.” But the only thing was that a pin was missing from a hinge. I simply put a small nail into the hinge from the top and it’s ready to go.

Look at the Paris, France knob on it.

I found two little round candles that fit perfectly into this old white cup I had put up. The candles smell beautiful and were unused.

I think this is actually made to roll jewelry up in — or something, but I thought it would be pretty to hang up over my dresser and pin brooches on.

This baby journal is excellent quality, of medium size, with heavy paper and gorgeous illustrations. My plan was to turn it into a personal info book to carry in my purse, and I am all done!! It turned out great. I will show you pictures soon!

Like I’ve said before, I can’t pass up magazines like this at 25 cents each.

I LOVE this set of nesting boxes. One…

Two…

Three! And all for only 4 dollars.

I love shirts like this Old Navy to wear over little T shirts paired with a long skirt.

I went through a jar of buttons and pulled out these 3 pink ones for 10 cents.

This table runner is surely old. It needs just a touch of mending. I love the hint of lavender in it.

Perfect skirt. The perfect size, the perfect color, the best material ever.

The little dish will go to Princess of the Universe to put in her little antique dish hutch in her room.

Yoga pants for Princess to wear around the house.

And who’s not in love with this tiny pocket (purse) edition of Walden by Henry David Thoreau?
Today was such a lovely day. I went to visit a sweet elderly lady who is currently in a nursing home. That was the highlight of my day. These other little things were just fun finds on the way home from seeing her.

PS — Amber, I’ll write soon about balancing public school and homeschool.

You always find wonderful things; I have an antique baby dress in my down stairs powder room..
This half bath I redid a few years ago … It is done in a pink and yellow rose theme, the wallpaper has
Green rose leaves… I have my daughter’s white doll highchair in there to hold magazines …
I also had one child in ps and one hs… it worked out, I just had to do what was best for each child at the time… I miss those days of home schooling…

This may have been one of the best thrift shop days ever!!! I love EVERYTHING! I am so happy you take the time to share!
I too, would love to know more about the public school/homeschool balance…I never realized you did both.
I would also be interested in hearing about your hs plans for this Fall.
Happy Friday…Michele

Louise, thank you for telling me about having one in PS and one in HS. It’s a small world!
We have had this situation going on for years now and it has worked out quite well.
Thanks, Michele! Yes, I do both. I have articles that talk about it on my homeschool website — having to pick and choose who can homeschool because I have to work, and I’ve mentioned it on the FIAR boards before, though that was a rare occasion. That board is specifically for supporting HS’ers (as you know) and I respect that very much.

Yea, a fellow NC gal. I am in the Piedmont Triad. Just found your blog today through browsing someone’s sidebar and you popped up. Since thrifting is one of my fav things in the whole world, I loved this post. Will be back.
