Oooooh we did get rain.
Rain. Rain. Rain.

This was actually at the tail-end of the rain. It rained all night. Everything got a good soaking and the rain barrels are overflowing, as are any buckets or birdbaths that were outside. I know our ground needed it.

All day I looked outside to a gray sky, swaying trees and more and more rain.
Inside, though, our house was cheerful. Princess of the Universe has taken to making herself “sunny-side-up eggs,” so with great pride she honored her Papa’s request to make him a couple of fried eggs with some waffles on the side.

She carried it off brilliantly, having the waffles in the toaster as she turned the eggs (without any help and without breaking the yolks), and then she put it all on a tray and carried it around to Papa Bear who was sitting in the den.
This afternoon late the sun came out and we had a pretty couple of hours before it got dark. Hubby cooked outside on the grill and we had cheeseburgers. I had to run an errand after dark and as I was backing out of the driveway I glimpsed a spiderweb so big — it made me shiver! I can only imagine my screaming if I accidentally walked through it. You’d all hear me. All of you.
I came back home, got the camera and the flashlight and went promptly out to get a picture.

I know you cannot really make out the spider due to the dark night and the flash light, but good granny can you see how big this web is???? Do you see? That’s enough to wrap completely around… Well, nevermind. I’m sure you can imagine.
I think the spider in the web is the same kind as one that’s building on my front porch every night. Even as I type. If not, it’s something similar. But aren’t all spiders alike? Scary and gross? Well, I sort of like what they do, but I just don’t want any direct contact with any of them. Here’s the big spider on the front porch. He disappears during the day, so we have not had any conflicts over where he has decided to take up residence.

Heebie jeebies.
Lynn

We had a ton of rain here in NJ as well. We needed it so badly, it has been so dry here. I love your rain barrel. that is something we need to do sometime soon.
How great that your daughter was cooking on her own! Kaden (my three year old) cooks and bakes with me every chance he gets!
Ok, about the spider, I do not, I repeat do not like them. Not one bit! Ugh. But they are amazing aren’t they. That is one huge spider web. If I had walked into it you would find me dead in the yard of fright! I showed it to Justin and he thought it was very cool!
Blessings~
Michele
I shuddered just seeing the photo of that thing! The web is quite impressive, though.
I would move. Far. Far. Away.
Good Sunday Morning Lynn!
It rained all night here in Michigan!
Good Granny!!! That is quite a spider web! How big was the spider in real life? It looks pretty creepy!
I like how organized your cupboard is above your stove (in the picture w/ your daughter!) …
Have a happy day,
Michele/ivy
Wow, that’s quite a web.
It could be a garden spider. I know ours can get quite big. Ours are usually green though. I don’t mind spiders too much. I don’t play with them as a rule, but I leave them be unless they get into the house. No bugs, etc. allowed in the house.
Good granny is now my favorite new saying ever! lol!
And that is one herkin huge spider. Uuggghhh!
Miss you…
Oh Lynn! That spider is gross! Thank you for commenting on my blog! When I saw the spider at my house, I forgot to show my dh because we were leaving for camping. However, it was still there 2 days later when I remembered to show him!
You take great pictures!
Hi Lynn
Good Lord woman! When are going to stop creeping me out! LOL

EEEEK!! Spiders! That is one huge web! and an ugly spider too.
Wow…huge spider web. You would hear me too if I walked into that. Gasp.
So glad to hear that your weather wasn’t too awful other than the rain! And as far as the spiders….that web is awesome in the dark! We have them everywhere! Huge banana spiders from every tree as well as a complete invasion of black widows and brown widows….hanging in every possible corner, crack, and crevice…even in the house! {shiver} This year is the worst yet….I’m amazed that we’ve gone without getting bitten! We just spray and spray and wonder where they all came from!
Wow- that spider is scary looking. Heebie jeebies is right. Rainy days make me want to stay in and eat and sleep. I do enjoy them occasionally.
