A Manx Kitten

Yes, it should not be, but we have another litter of these on the front porch.

There were three kittens to start with, but one solid gray one has died already.  We suspected that the father of the kittens was a large manx that runs around the neighborhood.  He is quite afraid and will not come close to the house if we are outside.  This litter confirmed our suspicions that he was the father, as one cat has been born with the obvious trait of being tailless.  It is not totally tailless, which is good for it since more problems can occur if there’s absolutely no tail at all.  The tail is just a little stub.

Between my neighbor and myself, we have decided that I will just take ownership of the cat and take over her vet care as well.  She’ll be going to get spayed as soon as this litter has weaned.  :)   In the meantime, we are enjoying the experience of seeing kittens born and raised.

Oh! Growing up, all of the cats I had were Manx. When I got married, dh thought it was a little weird, so now our kitty has a tail–there was a time when that was weird to me! : )

  • How sweet. We acquired two kittens at five weeks old. They are now roughly 9 weeks. Their mother had been killed. Both, Bella and Cupcake, are fitting in quit well. Have fun enjoying the miracle. hugs, Ellen

  • I just somehow knew you would be taking in this mama cat and her kittens. ;)
