Thrifted Cherub Lamp

I love to have an excuse to go by a certain thrift store.  It’s not very often that I make it over there, but sometimes I do.

Last week I found this beautiful and oh-so-heavy lamp with three cherub-looking creatures surrounding the base.  Did I say this lamp is heavy?

Some of the paint finish is flaking off, but that just makes it more interesting to me.  It was 15 dollars, which I was prepared to pay.  I mean, the shade alone would be more than that new.

When I mentioned excitedly to the cashier that I would find some way to touch it up, she said that since I had to work on it she would sell it to me at half price.

I thanked her generously and with many smiles.

I am now in the mood to redecorate.  Move things around.  Shake things up.  I also want to reorganize all my books.  Again.  Poor Hubby.

  • That lamp is AWESOME. I need to keep an eye out for something lovely like that!

I have one of those “poor hubbys” too. He works out of state and a couple of weeks ago he came home to the dining room/living room combined, and the former dining room turned into a music room.

This time he’s coming home to a room that needs painted because I am taking the 3 girls out of one room into each their own rooms.

That of course means that “school” is being moved somewhere else and therefore something else will need to move…. Maybe we should write a book….

If Momma wants to rearrange (along the lines of If you give a mouse… )

  • Oh, Lynn, I so understand the phrase “poor hubby”!! LOL! Enjoy decorating your lamp!!

Michelle, LOL, I like the book concept. :)
Your poor hubby really is coming home to some new concepts!

Michele, you are so funny. I must admit that when I saw it I was amazed it was still sitting there. It must not have been out for very long. I do really like it.

Thanks, Amber. I have no idea when I’ll do anything with it — or when I’ll get to do some decorating around it, but I am loving it as-is right now. :)

I had a pair of these lamps, and my Grandson broke one. I am trying to find another.

Oh, Leslie, I’m sorry to hear your lamp was broken. Are your lamps like this very heavy? This one is unbelievably heavy. I hope you find a replacement. If you care to share more detail, I would love to hear more about the lamp and where it was originally from.
