You may have tangible wealth untold.
Caskets of jewels and coffers of gold.
Richer than I you can never be –
I had a mother who read to me.
Strickland Gillilan

Lucky me. 25 cents. An excellent book that is on my current list of must-reads. Don’t you just love old books?

One of our rituals is bedtime reading. We may travel to Europe before we go to sleep. We may tame a wild animal or two. Sometimes we make a new friend before we close our eyes. Often we learn of someone who lived and endured hardships to make the world a better place.

Libraries make me giddy. I shall never have enough books. My favorite room to think about creating is my someday library. If it comes to pass, it will have bright buttery-yellow walls, large windows, floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, two overstuffed chairs for me and Hubby, and little rocking chairs for (fingers crossed) grandchildren.
Now. Let’s turn off the electronic noise and go read.

Catching up with you is like a much needed break from the pressures of the outside world. You are today’s version of Tasha Tudor for me. The music you’ve chosen is perfect too and I love the new look for your blog.
I hope things are well for you and your family.

Rue, you are so sweet! I love to read about Tasha Tudor and her way of life. I am sure she would feel very confined in my little yard, but I do my very best to make it seem more “in the countryside.”

I know what you mean about good books!!! It is a welcome escape from the insane times we’re living in…especially in depressing Michigan!
“A Hundred Dresses” is one of my daughter’s favorite books… she just packed away many of her childhood books. But not this one, it sits on her shelf along with all the new book that she now reads.
She pick up her copy at a tag sale as well, it was a first edition in very good condition…
A book collector offered her a hundred dollars for it, she refused it, I think she was around nine and I remember being very impressed with my daughter that day…
Isn’t this a great book? You really did find a treasure!
