I am trying to wrap my brain (and my planners) around the fact that the holiday is over!
Yes, it’s time to get back to it! What’s on tap for this week?
For one thing, finishing up Snowflake Bentley (Caldecott Medal Book)
Also, we will be reading Hamlet aloud this week. Can we do it in a week? I don’t know, but I do have a funny comment from my son Joseph. He says if he has to write about Shakespeare that at the end of the report he’s going to put a PS that says “I did not want to do this.” I hope actually studying Shakespeare will change his mind a bit.
One thing I try to do regularly is jot down tricky words when they come to mind. In my medical transcription work I used to do a lot of proofing for the company. There are many words that are commonly misspelled or misused. One is using “site” when “cite” should be used. This week we will be talking about sight versus site versus cite.
We are also copying some favorite quotations this week. I will have Princess of the Universe doing more creative writing from Story Starters: Helping Children Write Like They’ve Never Written Before
I want to study the night sky this week.
Of course we will be playing dolls.
On a life note, these gray dreary days have had me feeling a bit blue. (January and February tend to do this to me.) I took some time this morning to just look at and appreciate a bit of summer in a vase. For Christmas, my mother bought me a ton of dried flowers from the farmer’s market. She knows her girl!
They brighten up the mood, eh?
