My Mind

This is what my mind looks like this morning…

Awwwwwwwwwww, don’t laugh.

And, no, it’s not a snowflake.

Though it’s really, really, really, REALLY cold here this morning – like maybe 10 degrees, my mind has a flower in it.  I’m trying really hard to be in a wintery mood, but when I look out the window and see even the leaves on the camelias curled up like they will completely shrivel away to nothing, I can’t help but remember things like this…

and this…

and this…

Please, you wintery-minded folks, don’t be too dismayed with my struggle to keep my mind out of my garden when it’s warm and full of flowers like it hopefully will be again in a few more months.  Just a few more months...

Oh and this…

and…

WAIT, WAIT.

And this.

and this

that turns into this…

Ahhhhhhhhh, infusions.

I’m okay.

Really.

But just one more THING.  ONE MORE THING!  Wait…

What?

Yes, I’m okay.  Oh.  Yeah.  I’ll be fine.  Yeah, you can go.  Really, I’ll be okay.  I’ll just get out some gardening catalogs and go plop down in front of the gas heater which is running FULL BLAST today because it’s so cold outside.  And because my camelia is all withered up.

But really, I’ll be okay.  Don’t worry about coming back to check on me.  Okay?

I’m fine.

Really.

Oh Lynn…I know exactly how you feel… we had a high of EIGHT degrees yesterday…. it was a flip of the coin to see who would even go out to get the mail! Your flowers and that beautiful arbor is so refreshing…and instantly lifted my mood! But, then again… your ENTIRE blog, is a shot in the arm for me! Keep posting…could you post more? Maybe 2 or 3 times a day???? hahahaha!

BTW, I meant to comment awhile back at how AMAZING your son’s handwriting is!!! It’s better then mine!

Looking at my weatherbug.com flashing right now… it’s 3 degrees here, Your pal, Michele

  • Oh Lynn, you are such a nut. lol It was below zero up here. ;) We are expecting snow again all week next week. I am so envious of your lovely garden. You inspire me so.

  • Dear Lynn,

I myself have NOT been inventorying the seeds stashed in my fridge, nor drooling over seed catalogs, nor going over last year’s garden journal, nor reading Organic Gardening, nor wistfully looking through my August issues of Victoria Magazine, so I don’t know what you’re talking about ;) !

“With winter here, can spring be far behind?”

    Love,

    Marqueta

p.s. You look so pretty with your kitty under the arbor!

  • Hi Lynn,
I really enjoyed the photos of your gardens most beautiful residents. It has been below zero here for days. The wind chill is at 40 degrees below zero! Do you feel like your having a heat wave now? :) In the Winter months it is so hard to let go and stay in the moment. But if I don’t I miss the joys it has in store for me. I have a few days off of school and when thrown out of my routine I can get really stuck! So to avoid that today I enjoyed a hot breakfast with Hubby, (I pulled out the good dihes and cloth napkins!), bundled up and went to the hairdresser for some pampering, and am working on dollhouse number 2. When it is hard for me to live in the moment being creative always takes me to a place that warms my heart and settles my mind. If all else fails do as Shakespeare suggested, “Carpe Diem”. It may be the best one you’ve lived yet!
Have a day filled with play!

  • Ah, Michele, my pal. You are in a colder place than I am. I knew you were. How do you do it!! You are so up all the time. I try to be too. I am mostly kidding, but I am really NOT used to single digits.

Patricia, you inspire me too, and I am totally nutty. It’s true. :)

Marqueta, you must have your fingers crossed. I know your mind is out it the vegetable garden! ;) And thanks for your sweet compliment.

Diane, I love the saying carpe diem. I think of it often. Wow, you really, REALLY have it cold there, but you are so encouraging, the way you use your time. I like to stay busy too. It does help!

  • Dreaming of sunflowers has always warmed my heart in the deepest of snow.

  • oh, lynn, i am right there with you! winter started much too early here, so i already tired of the cold and snow. but how sweet the spring is after the winter! if we never know cold, we will never appreciate the spring’s warmth!

    blessings! stacy

  • Oh….Lynn….I feel your pain :) I guess it may be that we need to go through these cold, brittle, dead days to really appreciate the warmer seasons. I don’t know about you, but I’m thinking that I’m really, really going to appreciate spring’s arrival this year :)

    Hi Lynn,
What beautiful pictures!!! You have not changed a bit since our days so long ago. Life there seems so peaceful. I look forward to following your blog. have a wonderful week.

  • Louise, I’m dreaming of flowers even now!!

Stacy, of course you are right. We must have cold to appreciate the beautiful warmer spring.

Sandra, me too! I’m really looking forward to spring this year!

Susan! I am so happy to see a comment from you. I get to be selective with my blog, so you see the stress-free side of things. Also, the pictures don’t show up many wrinkles! :) I’m so happy you stopped by!

It was so nice to “find” you again
via your comment. My old computer died, taking with it my list of “faves” to visit.
I am also wishing for spring to arrive soon.

  • Awww…Lynn! What beautiful pictures of your garden (and you). Spring is not too far away. :)

Oh, I love when you said, “…my mind has a flower in it”. That speaks of your heart and love of your garden so much.

    Sweet blessings~

Susan, I love that we have kept in touch all these years! The school never knew what hit it when we were around! How could we be so silly and make good grades, all at the same time? I love you bunches. :)
