The Bun E. Wabbit Inn

We think the bunnies will love the new inn that’s waiting for them.  It’s called The Bun E. Wabbit Inn.

We have about an hour or so worth of work left to do and we’ll be done.   The little platform for the bunnies to get on has to be finished.  We’re not sure if we’ll make a second-story loft.  The walls need to be finished up and the roof has to go on and we need to put a little latch on the door.

Two walls are wire, two wall are closed in, one with a door on hinges and a window.

We’ve made a space underneath for a flat board or tray that will slide out, letting us take the droppings outside.  That’s my hand sliding the “tray.”  We used a piece of plywood for our model tray, but we’ll likely switch to something lighter weight and more flexible for ease of carrying.  I’m looking around for something that’ll do.

Do you think the bunnies will like their stained glass window?  It’s actually a little sun catcher.

We’ll post again when we’ve complete our project and have our bunny or bunnies safely home.

  • AWESOME! Isn’t it so fun and exciting to go on these animal adventures?! It’s like living in a James Herriot story :)

  • Dear Lynn,

Wow, that was fast! You must have spent a lot of time working on it yesterday; it looks great so far.

I think the rabbits will adore the stained glass window.

    Love,

  • Looks wonderful! Caroline will be so excited to visit the bunnies!

  • That is truly wonderful!
    What lucky bunnies!

Very impressive bunny cage. It looks like the bunny cage project was ALMOST as much fun as having a bunny!

    Hi Lynn,
    Your bunny cage is amazing!
I have a little story to share with Princess…My father raised rabbits for years. We had about 200 bunnies of all shapes and sizes at one time. We were very little, (probably 3 and 6)trying to be helpful, my brother and I decided to clean the cages for my dad. Now when he did it he let them out one cage at a time. Being little people this didn’t register with either of us. So as you might have guessed we let them all out at once! We had 200 rabbits running around the 1/2 arce backyard! When my Mom realized what we had done she gathered every neighbor, their children, my grandma, my other siblings together and we chased rabbits for hours!! The good news is we found them all. The bad news is my Dad’s vegetable garden took a beating that summer!
Anyway, it was a hilarious event! and a time I will never forget.
Have a wonderful time tending the bunnies!

  • Michelle, we are going to have a lot of bunny poo for the garden. :)

Marqueta, you are correct. I have to say that Michaela did more building than three Rs on Wednesday.

Emily, we can’t wait for Caroline to see our new bunny! We’re planning to get another one in the next few weeks.

    Kate, thank you. :)

Ken, you are right. I love projects like this. It makes the bunny more exciting!

Diane, that is so hilarious. I just read your comment to Joseph. We had a good laugh. I’ve got to go find Michaela and tell her. She’s upstairs with her new bunny.

    Hi Lynn,

I received your comment; you’re welcome. Your blog is lovely and inspiring. I seem to be doing some of the same things you are doing with your daughter. This is our year of creating a doll house world and we are looking into getting a bunny.

    God Bless,
    Tami
