IS TODAY. For all children. The only reason I get to make a quick entry here is because we are on a breakfast break.

Last night was a quick shopping trip to the mall to get clothes for John, my public school child. Do you KNOW how much money we could have spent here? Including me. I was sucked in too. The lights, the loud music everywhere, subliminal messages saying SHOP SHOP SHOP. I saw several skirts and blouses I wanted, but I tried to focus on John.

One thing I did get was a pair of really cute Madden Girl shoes. It was buy one get one half off, so after we bought John’s black high-top Converses and I made sure he didn’t want anything else, I said, “Oh, ME ME, I DO!

In the garden this morning, more and more orb weavers are working their webs into everything. Be careful where you step!

I did some weeding last week and things are looking a BIT more tame.

I worked a LOT on the goldfish pond last week, running the filter and then washing it out about every three hours. I did that FOUR times. Then we got a wonderful cleansing rain and now the pond is clear again. The cats are SO excited! The fish are NOT.
That’s all for now. We are about to very gently open our first Ambleside Book and do some reading. We’re having a great day so far. More specific notes later.
Happy Tuesday!
Lynn

Hi Lynn,
Oh my! Do I remember those back to school shopping trips. With all girls in the family it was almost scary! We use to give each of the girls a dollar limit, they came prepared with a needs/wish list and off they went. Then I’d spend my time following along, usually having the last word on outfits they thought they couldn’t live without! All kidding aside i miss those times now that they are all grown. Our Amanda just graduated with her Masters degree in Social Work.
I have been working on my blog but few visitors. I’m trying to perservere. Any tips?
Anyway, I have school work and dinner to attend to. Have a wonderful Wednesday.
Diane
I wish you great success with your first year homeschooling with Charlotte Mason…it is my first year ever and we’re using CM, too. I’ve been reading your blog for awhile and love your garden pictures.
Dear Diane, blogging takes perseverence. As you leave comments for others, they will begin to visit you. Don’t lose heart if people don’t visit every day, people get busy and they’ll go for days without getting to drop in sometimes. You’ll have some who’ll begin to visit regularly. It takes time for people to find you, but as you begin to appear on others’ blog rolls, they will! You have a lot of creative content and the search engines will find you eventually as well. Hang in there.
Susan, thank you so much for visiting! I just visited your blog and will be back. I will add you to my blog roll so I can keep up with you.
Lynn
Thanks Lynn, I will perservere!
Diane
Hope you enjoyed your first day sweet friend! You were so close … hopefully we’ll meet up on one of our trips sometime soon (hopefully at Pullen).
Hugs,
Leslie
Isn’t the first day of school great?! Lorena and the kids are back and we are off and running, too!
Dear Lynn,
More pretty garden pictures!~I’ll bet that the fish would feel a little more comfortable if they were less conspicuous. But if it makes the cats happy, right?
I love the shoes~apparently you didn’t get my “wide feet” genes
.
Love,
Marqueta
I love the shoes! We had a “first-day-back” kind of day today here, too. I had a really sweet, “gentle” time with my youngest daughter. CM is new to us and I revert to book work entirely too easily. It has been good to read your insights on employing CM techniques. Can’t wait to hear how the first day went!
Ken, I am loving it!
Marqueta, thank you.
I noticed this morning that the water is even clearer. Poor fish! The water lily had nearly taken over and was divided back to 1/8 its previous size, so that adds even more to their plight!
April, thank you! I am just loving applying CM teaching by way of Ambleside. It’s good to hear from you.
Lynn
