Hot Cocoa with Whipped Cream
By admin, on December 2nd, 2009
Are you addicted to anything at the moment? Dear friends, I must confess an addiction that surfaces this time of year. It happens to be fattening. It’s something I can talk myself right into not being able to live without. From behind the heavy refrigerator door, I can hear the milk and whipped cream whispering my name. What’s more, the entire family is following in my footsteps.

All it takes is
- a cup of milk
- a spoonful of cocoa
- sugar to taste — usually 2 spoons of sugar to 1 spoon of cocoa
Heated to perfection while stirring, into a pretty cup it goes. Whipped cream with a fine sprinkle of cinnamon makes the perfect topping.
Yum.

About Lynn
I am the mother of four delightful children: a 23-year-old son, a 20-year-old son, a 17-year-old son, and a bright and bubbly 13-year-old daughter. I share an apartment home with my 17-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. My little home on the internet is called Rose Cottage because of my love for gardening, roses, and all things romantic and Victorian. Welcome.
I'm a North Carolina girl and I love sharing North Carolina links and information. I do medical transcription from home. My hobbies include making sweet little dolls from clay who are named and have their own stories to tell. I also make old-fashioned brooches. These are for sale in my Etsy shop.
For 13 years continuously, I homeschooled some or all of our four children, but the time came that our homeschool had to be closed. It was the end of a beautiful chapter in my life. I will always be a strong supporter of homeschooling and I will continue to review books and maintain my homeschool website, The Healthy Homeschool.

My Symphony
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.

The same siren lives within my refrigerator, Lynn. Every afternoon when I feel my hands growing cold, I make myself a little cup of hot chocolate. I had forgotten about the whipped cream. Thanks!
Jenn
YUM!
you are my kind of gal!
We woke up to a delightful morning of snow in North Texas ~ completely unexpected!! We’ve been outside to play and made a mini-snowman and now we are eating hot grits w/ham and spiced, buttered apple cider….yum. We LOVE everything about winter!
Have a great day!
Oh, that looks SO good….it is FREEZING here today too, so that looks expecially inviting…
I have a package that I am hoping to send soon…found what I think is a treasure!
Love,
C~
Yummy! Can you make me one?
Blessings
Diane
Oh how i love hot chocolate with whipped topping!! I must now go to the store for a new can of cocoa! My memory let me down on this one. Thank you for the reminder (ha ha)
Much love
Susan
Jenn. Siren…LOL. Yes, mine might be more of a siren too.
Michelle, I know!
Oh, Teresa, that sounds wonderful! Wintery fun, and snow in Texas to boot. Boot. Texas. Ha ha. Anyhoo, I hope your day was great.
Carrie, you’re so sweet. I’ll look forward to it and to sending you a surprise in return.
Diane, of course!
Susan, we’ll go down poor-memory lane together. We might get our words mixed up, but won’t we have a lot to talk about?!
My December addiction is homemade shortbread. Yum!! It would be nice with your hot chocolate – even in an Aussie summer!!
Wow, what a coincidence! Putting whipped cream on my hot chocolate is something that I NEVER do. However, I very recently bought a can of whipped cream (the light one) as a topping and have been drinking them quite frequently. Perhaps there are subliminal messages somewhere convincing us to break form and do so? lol!
I forgot to mention that I also use instant Diet Swiss Miss and a packet of equal. All of the flavor but less decadent calorie wise.
Would love to hear what special things for this month you are doing in school. Does your curriculum have some Christmas books or emphasis? Love hearing about your new curr.
I so agree xoxoox Clarice
Hi Lynn,
I had a moment to visit and what a delight! Your past few posts have been so warm and inviting. You really have an ability to spread cheer!
Thanks for sharing,
Diane
Jeanne, I’ll be right over.
Tanya, that’s so funny. Yes, I guess there are whipped cream messages floating around and we’ve both been hit.
Becky, I’ve been thinking of posting a school update. Thank you for asking! Hopefully soon. There’s been a lot of unusual stuff going on around here lately, including a cat accident. We’re not doing any special Christmas books, but just reading in our AO books and staying very involved in our FIAR homeschool group.
Clarice, I guess great minds think alike.
Oh, thank you Diane! I feel the same way about you, and I bet your students do too.
Sounds yummy! Perfect after having a morning in the ER with my husband!! Nasty allergic reaction to who knows what…Father continues to remind me that He is in control! I would love to meet you sometime! An early heads up, the CM meeting is on December 15th let me know if you think you can make it so that I can keep an eye out
