A Birdie In The Garden

I took a little walk in the garden this morning. There was a tiny birdie there.

We were doing a photo shoot for the Etsy shop.   It was a bit chilly, but I was wrapped in my bright red shawl, and, well, Ms. Bluebird has feathers, so we were both fine.  Annie, on the other hand, was trying to pull my arm out of its socket, which made it impossible to get a clear picture, so in she went.  Just want you to know what a photo shoot here is really like.

We spied a little snowdrop in the garden this morning.  So sweet and bright and pretty in the midst of so many dead leaves.  The cycle begins.  I feel the need to order mulch, rake up the dead stuff and begin to brighten up the garden.   After all, there should be daffodils next month.

Dear Snowdrop, you help me hang on.  I love you, Little Snowdrop.  Uh…

I hope you have a lovely day.  Ms. Bluebird is sitting here with me this morning as I type, but I have plenty of hot tea and Annie to curl up in the chair behind me, so I am not lonely.  Just wishing I had the day free to sculpt little birdies and make pins and play outside, but there’ll hopefully be another day for that soon.  I cannot complain.  I can hear my mother-in-law say sweetly, “Count your blessings.  Name them one by one.”

Enjoy this day.

  • Oh my goodness! You have snowdrops now? And daffodils next month?? We won’t have snowdrops til April probably, and daffodils don’t appear here until May. I’ll just have to enjoy your flowers vicariously♥

    Thanks for sharing, dear friend.

  • Dear Lynn,

I’ll trade you some snowflakes for your snowdrop! :)

How wonderful to have little flowers outside, and to have daffodils to look forward to so soon. Ms. Bluebird is rather cheery, too!

I agree with your mother-in-law, counting our blessings does make the not-so-fun things more bearable.

    Love,

    Marqueta

  • Bluebirds and flowers! You made my heart sing today, Lynn. We’re enjoying warm sunshine and temps in the mid 40′s today, so I can pretend (for a little while) that spring is just around the corner. Being a seasoned New Englander, I know it is just a ruse played by Mother Nature every year, and yet, it keeps us hopeful, ever hopeful. Have a blessed day in the Lord!

  • The way that you capture Father’s “kisses” are so lovely! I am always encouraged and inspired when I visit your blog!

wow. to see a flower blooming in january. what a blessing indeed. your garden is about 2 months ahead of mine!

  • Happy Saturday Lynn,
I just had to tell you how cute the primitive little bluebird is.
You could add a little tag with it that reads, “A little bird told me…” and your customers could add their own sentiment. Just an idea!
The flowers are so pretty. Thank you for sharing them.

Ugh. You’ll have blooming daffodils next month…I’m so jealous.

  • Diane, I do have some! I have only a few, and every year I mean to plant more and just don’t do it. This year I just have to.

Marqueta, yes, I guess I would trade you. Just for you. ;) Michaela would be happy anyway!

Emily, we start having these spells of “warm” temps after the first of the year, but I know our coldest weather is usually yet to come in January and February, so I must keep myself under control! :)

    Thank you, Trinity Mommy. :)

Connie, it’ll be like a back and forth dance in the garden for awhile. Things do pop out early here, but sometimes they then get zapped by a killing frost and that is sad indeed.

Diane, I love your idea! I may have to just do that! You have so many creative ideas. I am sure you are an awesome teacher.

Tanya, well we should. Hopefully. And like I mentioned earlier, they sometimes get frosted, but it’s just the North Carolina weather.

  • Oh how lovely! I would love to see some sign of green…. thanks for sharing this.

  • Patricia, I bet you have it cold and snowy in your neck of the woods, but I KNOW it’s beautiful there. Just beautiful. :)
