Snowbound Sunday
Written by admin on January 31st, 2010We’ve been snowbound today, something that is not a usual circumstance for us. It honestly has felt good today to be all at home as a family, snacking, working on projects, and just being quiet. Whenever I pass by the window I can see the bright snow!

The white snow was especially pretty against the camellia blooms, both the bright red blooms and the older tea-stained-looking blooms. I took a couple of walks outside to feed the bunnies and to walk Annie. Annie is now used to the snow and totally loves it!
Tomorrow I’m planning to start my feminine and frugal dress series. It’ll be fun! I won’t promise that that’s all I’ll talk about, but I will try to post a “new” outfit each day.
Something we’ve snacked on these snowy days:
Easy Crockpot Peanut Clusters
two 16 oz jars of dry-roasted peanuts (I use 1-1/2 jars instead of all 2 and think they’re better this way)
one 12-oz bag of white chocolate morsels
one 12-oz bag of milk chocolate morsels
one 12-oz bag of semi-sweet morsels
Put the peanuts in the crockpot and spread over bottom. Empty all three bags of morsels onto the top of the peanuts, trying to keep the morsels in the center and not touching the sides of the crockpot. Some will touch — you can’t help it, but try. Let cook on low for two hours. Turn crockpot off, stir until well-mixed and then drop by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. Let sit in a cool room until hard. I drop mine onto wax paper on my large freezer in the very cold pantry where they harden very quickly! If yours turn out like ours, you’ll be hooked!

It is fun being snowed in, isn’t it? This winter season in Michigan, we’ve had very little snow… only plowed once and the kids can’t sled. We’re eagerly waiting for our blizzard.
Your crockpot covered peanuts… sound fantastic. My family and I, would probably eat them like rednecks… right out of the crockpot with a spoon!!!!
Looking forward to your blog-fashion show!

We’ve had our share of snow, but I’d love another snow day. We are tucked in anyway b/c of the cold. I hope you’re enjoying it. I love that recipe!

Having lived in the Midwest most of my life snow and more snow becomes a way of life! Enjoy it while you can for it will melt away. My favorite winter activity is to do just what you’ve shared. Good company, good food, a warm house…what more could we ask for!
Have a wondeful Monday,
Diane

Yes, Emily. That’s them! They are yummy and easy. Thank you. You mean a lot to me.
Michele, wouldn’t it be fun to be snowed in together for a couple of days? We could eat out of the crockpot like rednecks (yes, my family is the same way) and you could show me how to do that felting you do and I could show you…well, we’d think of some kind of craft!
Amanda in the NW high desert,
isn’t that recipe just the best! Good and easy.
Diane M, with teenagers who want to be on the go all the time, it’s nice to have an excuse to HAVE to stay home and just be together.
MamaHen, I hope you won’t be disappointed. I know I won’t win any fashion awards. LOL. I think you’ll love the recipe.
Suzanne, I have thought the same thing! They are easy and make plenty!

Oh my goodness, I wish we could get snowed in for a few days! I’m with you, the forced immobility is just so calming, isn’t it?
And I just noticed your “Feminine and Frugal dress Monday” note at the top of your blog for the first time this morning… can’t wait to come back and see your post!

Your website is charming. A friend sent me the link. One of your photos shows you well enough that I realize I’ve seen you before. I thought of Tasha Tudor as soon as the top of your website came up. We really like her, and I wanted to visit some day, but that didn’t happen. How do I go and look at your dresses?

Colleen, thank you so much for visiting and for your comment. If you click on my banner than scroll back to last week’s posts, you should be able to see all six days of dresses. It was 2/1 through 2/6.
