BTDT…and got the T-shirt.
By admin, on February 21st, 2010
Over the weekend I found a few minutes to decorate a T-shirt using freezer paper stenciling. Like this. And this. And this. And this. And this. You get the point.

I felt I needed something that would speak my mind for me when I went to a meeting of some of the Five In A Row moms to learn how to make pasta. I think this works. Don’t you?
It was so easy.
- Think of or find a design you like.
- Trace it onto freezer paper.
- Cut it out with an exacto knife, saving any little pieces that go into the center of letters, etc.
- Iron your “stencil” onto your shirt.
- Paint with fabric paint.
- Let dry.
- Pull off stencil.
- Should wash up nicely turned inside out, but follow the instructions on your fabric paint.

About Lynn
I am the mother of four delightful children: a 23-year-old son, a 20-year-old son, a 17-year-old son, and a bright and bubbly 13-year-old daughter. I share an apartment home with my 17-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. My little home on the internet is called Rose Cottage because of my love for gardening, roses, and all things romantic and Victorian. Welcome.
I'm a North Carolina girl and I love sharing North Carolina links and information. I do medical transcription from home. My hobbies include making sweet little dolls from clay who are named and have their own stories to tell. I also make old-fashioned brooches. These are for sale in my Etsy shop.
For 13 years continuously, I homeschooled some or all of our four children, but the time came that our homeschool had to be closed. It was the end of a beautiful chapter in my life. I will always be a strong supporter of homeschooling and I will continue to review books and maintain my homeschool website, The Healthy Homeschool.

My Symphony
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.

What a terrific idea. The links were great and now I want to try this on some flour sack towels for my kitchen. It should work. Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.

Lynne~
Your webpage has become one of my favorites. You always have such wonderful ideas. I’ve been trying to figure out how to follow it…but it’s different than my blog page and I’m not sure what to do. Any suggestions?
I love the design! Cute! I have been wanting to try the freezer-paper stencil idea for some months now–you may have just jump-started me. I needed another project, really. My hubby will thank you too
Diane M, that’s a great idea! Let me know how it turns out. The FIAR was my first try, and now Michaela wants us to do some shirts together. I am so excited. It’s easy and can be really, really pretty!
Krissie, thank you! Have you tried looking all the way to the bottom of my right margin and clicking on the Entries RSS? I don’t know much about it myself, but that gives options on how to follow or add to a reader. I’ll try to give this some more thought.
Good question.
April, funny you should say that, because my hubby got up this morning to a kitchen table totally covered in craft materials.
OOoooohhhh…. what a nifty craft idea! And I was really needing another crafty thing to do. Really I was!
why, do you doubt me?
Loved your shirt – and spending more time with you on Sunday! It’s always a treat and never long enough. I do think you find joy in the little things and I love your perspective and how you take time for people – even the littlest of people.
Can’t wait to see you again. Hope you are having a great week!
Love
Leslie
Diane, we all need just one more craft. I realy do believe you, and I would never doubt you.
Leslie, thank you. I enjoyed Sunday so much. It was just what I needed. I’ll hope to see you Thursday, and I hope you all have a wonderful time tomorrow!
Fabulous idea, Lynn. My 9yo woul love to make a lizard stencil and create his own special tee. Thanks for the inspiration.
Missy, we are surely planning to do more of these. I think Michaela will love designing and decorating her own t shirts!
