Spring, I Love You

I have to work today.  Yes, dear readers, it is Monday again.  But you know I am the luckiest girl in the world to have a job at home and a faithful beagle.

Yep, Annie will be right here with me.  All day long.  For years, I’ve wanted another baby.  Perhaps Annie is spoiled.  I’m sure you can put two and two together.

Oh, nevermind, I’ll do the math right here.

Lynn wants a baby + Michaela gets a cute beagle = Annie gets treated like a newborn baby.

I walked in the garden yesterday.  Around and around my beloved little garden.  Crepe myrtle: my favorite tree.  Close by is a gold flame spirea.  The leaves are just starting to unfurl.  I stood — for I don’t know how long — and just was happy.

I love the bark on the crepe myrtle and I love the color of these new leaves.  Perhaps that is what inspired me to put apples in the basket of my newest doll, who should appear in the shop this week.   Or maybe it was because I asked the carpenter-man what should go in her basket and he said, “apples.”

The hellebores are lovely.  It was rightly spoken that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed as beautifully as one of the flowers fashioned by God.  Breathtaking.

I noticed yesterday that the creeping phlox is starting to bloom.  It will be a huge blast of color over the next couple of weeks.

A lone miniature daffodil stands, with a backdrop consisting of huge masses of ornamental grasses.

Ahh, the first violet of spring.  Spring is really, truly upon us.  Yes, there may be will be a few more cold nights, but the face of spring is finally smiling down on my little yard.

  • I don’t see anything odd about treating your sweet dog like a baby. I find myself babying my cat, carrying her on my shoulder, just like I used to carry my babies. My kids say I shouldd get her a sling! She is a lot easier to care for than they were. :-) And I love spring, too.

    Hi Lynn!!!
Long time -no post. I of course see nothing wrong with treating your sweet puppy like a baby. I have the pleasure of “grand-ma” sitting my son’s white lab for a week. I am quite sure i have already broken some rules. The wonderful part is she will never tell. Love the flowers peeking out in your yard. Alabama is a little behind. Every bloom is such a miracle from the Lord.
    Much love to you

  • Jenn, one of my friends said there’s a man in her neighborhood who walks, carrying his dog in a baby sling. :) I can just about relate! I think you definitely should baby your cat!

Susan, so good to hear from you! No, that lab won’t ever tell about all the rules you broke. I can only imagine. He’ll be wanting to go back to grandma’s everytime you turn around. :) Love to you too!

  • Dear Lynn,

Who could resist a sweet little girl like Annie? Pets do fill the baby void in a tangible way.

Everything looks like it’s coming right to life in your garden; what a blessed time of year this is! And violets, mmmm!
