Hackberry Emperor
Asterocampa celtis

Seen sitting on a tomato in the garden. Lovely.

Notice the eye spots on forewing and hindwing. I think the “real” eyes are cool.

Valentine’s GreetingsAbout Lynn
I am the mother of four delightful children: a 23-year-old son, a 20-year-old son, a 17-year-old son, and a bright and bubbly 13-year-old daughter. I share an apartment home with my 17-year-old son and 13-year-old daughter. My little home on the internet is called Rose Cottage because of my love for gardening, roses, and all things romantic and Victorian. Welcome. I'm a North Carolina girl and I love sharing North Carolina links and information. I do medical transcription from home. My hobbies include making sweet little dolls from clay who are named and have their own stories to tell. I also make old-fashioned brooches. These are for sale in my Etsy shop. For 13 years continuously, I homeschooled some or all of our four children, but the time came that our homeschool had to be closed. It was the end of a beautiful chapter in my life. I will always be a strong supporter of homeschooling and I will continue to review books and maintain my homeschool website, The Healthy Homeschool. Looking For Something?Recent ThoughtsThe Players

My Symphony
To live content with small means; to seek elegance rather than luxury, and refinement rather than fashion; to be worthy, not respectable, and wealthy, not rich; to study hard, think quietly, talk gently, act frankly; to listen to stars and birds, to babes and sages, with open heart; to bear all cheerfully, do all bravely, await occasions, hurry never. In a word, to let the spiritual, unbidden and unconscious, grow up through the common. This is to be my symphony.

Hi Lynn,
It has been awhile since I have been able to visit and I’ve missed
your posts and conversation. As you have been busy with all your adventures, new school year,
planning, dreams filled with curious messages,I too have been living amidst a whirl wind of
events and activity. A new school year has begun, my Masters classes are becoming more challenging,
and housework-forget it! Thank goodness hubby is here to help! my prayers have always been for God’s will not mine…but lately I find myself praying for improved time management skills! Then I am reminded that He does not give us more than we can handle and I take a deep breath and begin again.
I have not updated my blog for over two weeks but I’ll get there too! Adventually it will all fall into
place. Catching up on what you have been up to was terrific. Have a fabulous week,
Diane M

Hope you can pull this up. It is a birdhouse with mosaic added to the wood-made me think of your birdbaths.
Dear Lynn,
What a beautiful fellow (or lady)! We don’t have Hackberry Emperors around here, but I’ve heard they’re in Missouri. Maybe we’ll have our own pictures to show soon.
Love,
Marqueta
Marqueta, They are pretty aren’t they? I’ll have to keep up closely with your move, because I am working on a package for you. xoxo
Becky, that is SO gorgeous! I love it. I have always wanted to do a birdhouse, and have not done one yet. Thanks for sharing!
Diane M, thanks for stopping in an catching up! Your classes do sound like a challenge, but a good one! I need better time management too, especially lately. I hope you have a lovely week as well! We’re nearly half way through at this point!
