Something Worth Framing

I know I’ve shared Michaela’s sweet little doodle drawings before.  Just last week she presented a new picture of me, to me.  :)   I think it’s the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.  There I am in the kitchen, washing dishes, peeking out from under a bonnet.  Just look at the order in the kitchen!  And that lovely chandelier!  If only I had myself as together as she sees me.

It’s framed and sitting on my desk, to remind me of all the things I want to be.

    love it!!!
and you already are all those things you want to be….at least in your daughter’s mind, and that surely matters for something. such a sweet drawing, michaela.

  • Dear Lynn,

Isn’t that wonderful? Why, it’s better than Photoshop any day! May we both live up to how our children see us.

    Love,

    Marqueta

Someone says “Be the person your dog thinks you are.” Oh, if this is the way your Michaela sees you, wonderful!!

  • I love her attention to detail, such as the drain pipe for the water, and the drawers in the cabinet…. She is quite remarkable!

  • So sweet. I know you will keep it forever!

Just look at the form and symmetry of that rendering! M. has real talent.
Who knows where that may lead. To a richer, more beautiful life, at the very least.
The gift of artistry has successfully been transferred. :-)

Framed artwork that children have made for me, is on my list of favorite things. (especially
when drawn by one of mine.)
Just for kicks I keep a list of ‘Things That Are Perfect, Just As They Are….”
Children’s artwork and Sonic Limeade are both of that list!

    Take extra good care,
    Jen

  • Jen, I LOVE that you have a list of things that are perfect, just as they are. What a way to be thankful! I do think Michaela has a gift for drawing things that make a person feel happy. :) Thanks for your kind words.

  • MamaHen, for sure!! ;)

  • Liane, I noticed the same things! I love that you can see the drawer from the “outside” so to speak. She’s my girl. :)

  • Amanda, what a sweet thought. I think that’s why I frame these things. It’s humbling to remember that she’s making mental pictures of what I am. :)

  • Marqueta, so true! I want to live up to how she sees me. What an incentive to keep trying!

  • Connie, thank you. And it is indeed of great importance — what she thinks! ;)

  • April, beguiling! Tee hee. I love the way I look in that “photo” as well. Love what you said about cooking! LOL!

  • Barb, I like to be called stunning! ;) That doesn’t happen much.

    Lynn,

I happened onto your site this morning while searching for a photo of what I call a tomato spider. I think the photo is on your August 22, 2008 entry. After looking at the photo something, I don’t know what, caught my eye and I began to read your entry on Home Schooling. I don’t know how to describe my state after reading what you wrote other than to say, I’m left in a state of stunned balance. The clarity, cohesion with which you describe that experience from the beginning through to present is exceptional; thought provoking, honest, refreshing and … this last little bit … I wrote the following in my notebook this morning(I’m a writing); “All this stuff about the past … I’m after it to say something about the present and just haven’t yet nailed down what that actually is.” Reading what you write and how you write it has been just what I needed. I’m not out to copy you, but I am out to do what you do, being honest, clear, and above all right with ones self.

A little about me so that you know who is writing this; I am an American living in Europe for the last 23 years, and in Belgium for the last 15. I come from California from a family that has resided there for over 125 years. My Working back-ground in the USA; Cowboy/ranch hand, heavy equipment operator, small business owner; In Europe; Writer, yoga instructor, massage therapist & instructor.

Its important for me what I read from you this morning, thank you more than, I can possibly tell you, thank you,

    Sam

  • Well, thank you, Sam, for your comment! Sounds like you have a very busy and exciting life!

  • I love it and think her picture of you is perfect! You are beautiful friend in so many ways.

    Love
    Leslie

  • Leslie, thank you! I love seeing you and feel the same way about you. Love you.
