A Beautiful Journal

Not long ago, I found a gorgeous leatherbound journal, with heavy luxurious paper inside for writing on, for just $1.50 at Goodwill.  How could I say no?  There was but one line written inside.  Something about a barbeque.  Sigh.  Someone had started journaling and then quit.  It can seem like a daunting task to journal every day, especially if one’s heart is not in it.  I’ve always felt that writing things down was vital to my very existence.

The line about the barbeque was no hinderance to me.  I knew it would just get glued over and be a hidden memory from an unknown soul, right inside my journal.

You may read my journal.  This one, at least.  I even wrote in the front of it, “This is my journal.  You may read it.”  It will only be filled with good and positive things.  It is my everything-I-aspire-to-be journal.

It sits on my work station in my little art cove, where I can journal with ease.  Paper doilies, coloring pencils and pastels, scraps of paper and ribbon, and all sorts of embellishments are within an arm’s reach.

A 15-minute break and a positive thought add a page to my journal.  In addition to encouraging the better side of me, it feeds my creative side and allows me to try new ideas and art techniques, like the antique stain painted over a paper doily.

I hope you are encouraged.  Enjoy this day.

  • What a lovely journal. I love the idea of a journal focused on the positive. I may have to begin one and include my gratitude list in it!

  • Aneta, I cannot believe how much it has already helped my attitude to journal only positive goals and thoughts! Thanks for your comment!

Cute journal, Lynn! I love it. And only $1.50. You can’t beat that!

  • Hello Lynn, just calling over from the link at A Peaceful Day. Your journal is lovely and you will do well if able to write in consistantly. I used to keep a diary, in a fashion, until I started blogging. Now I seem to record most important bits there and just write a few private things down. But that’s okay, I guess.
Enjoying looking over your blog. Thanks for having me.

  • Dear Lynn,

Isn’t it nice when life hands you new inspiration? I’m sure the barbecue individual would kick him/herself if they were to see how you’ve taken it and run with it!

    Love,

    Marqueta

  • Kisha, thanks! Yep, it’s truly my kind of price! :)

Ruby, thank you for stopping by! I enjoyed visiting your blog as well. I do journal pretty regularly. It is one of those things that makes me feel better, but life sure does make it hard to do it every single day!

Marqueta, I wonder what the barbeque person would say! ;) You are funny.

  • Oh Lynn,

It is SO lovely….you know, you could sell THOSE at your Farmer’s Market….maybe decorate the base of the pages and then add a bag of creative bits to each one so that each individual could personalize it as they like….OR have a tutorial where you demonstrate several techniques and give ideas and sell those pages for a few dollars….
Just an idea…it is lovely though!
    C~
