Droning On and On

I had the chance to visit my sweet mama on Sunday. I love her so! Jason and I decided last minute to ride out to see my mom and poppy, and we took the DJI Phantom 4 drone. It was such fun. Of course, my mom keeps her yard looking like a state park, so the pictures were awesome. I know it will be even more beautiful come springtime. She wanted it to be so we could see everything in bloom. Our recent cold has killed many of the blooms that were out early. It was still very, very beautiful at my sweet mama’s house.

I love you, Mommy!

May I Have This Lamp?

There is a certain lamp that Vladimir has taken to.  Big time.  He sometimes claws the shade.  He stands up and attempts to pull the lamp over, like he is inspecting the top of it.  He sits under the lamp.  He curls up around the base of the lamp.  It is a lamp that I found recently at the thrift store.  I really like the lamp, the shade, and the way it looks, but I think Vlad might like it even more than I do.

Vlad asked if he could have the lamp.

“No.”

He was not satisfied with that, so he enlisted Lucy to help him move the lamp. Goodness.

I told him, “Vlad! Okay, okay. We can SHARE the lamp.”

“Brrrrreow.”

I think he is satisfied.

I have the best life. Vlad and Lucy at my house, Amelia and Mars at Jason’s house. In fact, Amelia has become one of my dear babies.

She is a heavy, solid, white fluff-ball! She had given birth to five kittens when Jason adopted her. The kittens were not with her, so he really had no say over what happened to them, but Amelia has just blossomed with Jason. She looks so vibrant and healthy compared to when she was found. Amelia and I sometimes share stories about verbal abuse and sadness over wanting better for our babies.  She is a good listener.

My apartment is in a state of flux as I clean out and shop for a permanent home for myself.  I am getting rid of some things, but I am also hunting for permanent items and bringing them to the apartment to be readied for my permanent home.  I recently found the much-loved end table in the picture with Vlad (actually the matched set of end tables).  I hope to turn them into spectacular end tables for my new home.  Think sanding and painting.

I really meant to blog sooner than this. I think it has been a week now since I was here! But my life is very hectic right now. Of course, you know about the recent gig. And thank you so much for your kind comments! That required practice and prep. In addition, and I might as well tell you now, I am in school for medical coding. I was really afraid my brain would not easily wrap around being in school again, but so far I have made very high A’s on everything! And I love the subject matter. I have already learned so much. I will be pursuing this subject one class at a time, looking ahead to testing and getting job experience. So there. We shall see how this progresses! I am also looking forward to another concert this week, to see a guitar player who is out of this world! Maybe I can get some really good photos to share!

Forgive my rambling! I guess I am just playing catch-up! I look forward to getting around to all of your blogs and catching up with your adventures!

Enjoy this day!

The Insect Woman

You all might remember how I always loved the creatures (as I called them) in the Little Wild Garden.  The insects!  The butterflies, the moths, the wasps and bees!  The beetles!  The spiders!  Last night Jason was showing me some of the new filters in one of his photo apps.  I used it to take a selfie.  I did not think much else of it until he sent back to me today the edited selfie.  Love.  I look like one of my creatures!  Don’t you think?

I think it’s one of my favorite pictures ever! Well, for the moment. He is always editing something and texting it to me. In that same vein, he has been taking and editing some awesome photos of Sidetracked. I wrote a post awhile back on the Breeze drone that I got him for Christmas. That was our first drone. We were really enjoying learning about it. Actually, he did the reading and learning. I was really on the sidelines just enjoying the actual experience. We found out, however, that our Breeze drone would go only so high before losing signal. Then our hands were tied as far as taking anymore pictures. It would land automatically after one minute of losing signal. So we did not have a problem with crashes, but losing signal regularly.  I will try to go back very soon and add an update to that original post. We ended up going back to the store with the Breeze and trading up for a DJI Phantom 4. So far we have been BEYOND pleased. It flies like a dream and takes amazing photos!

Here you can see my little caboose from a bird’s eye view!  It has been artfully edited.  😉

And here is the complex where my shop is. We have flown the drone nearly two miles away from where we started and it is stunning to see photos of our locale, taken from high in the sky! We have lots more to learn, but this is such an inspiring technology. Already, seeing the photos of the woods around where I live, I want to go hiking and see what’s out there!

I am soon off to tackle my evening errands. Time for an oil change. I need to clean out Ms. Ellie (my Element). I need to stop by the shop. Thank you for all your recent comments! You make my day!

Enjoy this day.
