Everyday Clothes: Romantic Feminine Dress

Yesterday I posted about a very dramatic, eveningwear outfit.  Today I thought I would post photos of what I would normally wear day to day.  I love this long vintage (made in USA) rayon skirt, which I wash in cold water on gentle cycle and hang to dry, even though it says “dry clean only.”  The gauzy top is modern; the lace long-sleeve undershirt is modern.

I wanted to also use this post to talk about a recent birthday gift I received from Jason’s sister. It is an inverted windproof umbrella! I have become very dependent on this umbrella in the recent rain. I had never seen an umbrella like this before! I opens backwards from how umbrellas usually open. When it closes, it folds up instead of down, trapping any water drops inside the umbrella, so water does not run all over you when you get in your car. The design allows you to shake the water out later; or, when you next open your umbrella, the water will run off (not on you) like regular rain off an open umbrella. (Please note, the link is my Amazon affiliate link.)

The April rain has me thinking about gardening! This morning I came across a photo of the old garden.

Enjoy this day!

  1. I too, love your style! That umbrella looks sturdy. I think I’ve heard of that somewhere before. Soon enough your new gardens will look like your old! xo Andrea

  2. -happy sigh- That is how I would love to dress, every, every, every day!!! If only, only, only I was thinner. I am 5’2 1/2″ so have very little height, to carry extra weight on. And sigh, I do carry extra weight, at this time.

So when I wear a skirt….. Well it just looks awful. (huge, around the middle, etc.) And I am not, not, not being too self conscious. I-do-look-awful. I can see, with my own eyes.

I have lost 10 of the extra pounds. But as any heavy person will tell you…… It is much harder than it would seem…. To lose.

    OK, enough “Pity Party”!!!! :-)))))))

I have seen that kind of a umbrella advertised, and it does look like a wonderful item. We don’t have that much rain, and at my age, I don’t have to go out in it. 🙂 So I wouldn’t have use for it.

    But it does look coooool…!

Not nearly as cooool as you look though!!!!!!!

    1. Oh, Luna, thank you for your sweet message! I am 5′ 7″ but I think I am shrinking. I simply have to do better with my bone supplement. Osteoporosis runs in the family. I think you should wear what makes you feel comfortable and happy! As far as weight, I sure used to be skinny Minnie, but now the pounds sure accumulate easier. I have to be careful, but I never used to! Hugs! Have a great weekend! Lynn

    1. Mamasmercantile — thank you! Short skirts (and I wear them with tights) seem to slim and lengthen the legs. I do love short (not mini!) skirts as well! xoxo Lynn
