How do you put up your plantain? I have so much of it growing in my yard and we use it frequently throughout the summer months, but some winter we have to buy salves with it already in it. Is ther esome special way to dry it? Do you make tinctures? Oils?

Angela,
Right now I am working on a solar-infused oil. I am a bit worried about mold, but that’s only a possibility. I let the freshly picked plantain wilt a bit to decrease moisture, put it in olive oil in a tighly closed jar and will let it sit for two weeks in a warm (not hot) sunny location. Then I will strain it and repeat the process by putting more fresh plantain leaves into that oil. It will be strained a final time and kept in a jar to use for abrasions, etc. This is a first for me. The oil, of course, could then be used as the base for a salve.
I also want to tincture some plantain, but still have not gotten around to it!
