The Insect Woman

You all might remember how I always loved the creatures (as I called them) in the Little Wild Garden.  The insects!  The butterflies, the moths, the wasps and bees!  The beetles!  The spiders!  Last night Jason was showing me some of the new filters in one of his photo apps.  I used it to take a selfie.  I did not think much else of it until he sent back to me today the edited selfie.  Love.  I look like one of my creatures!  Don’t you think?

I think it’s one of my favorite pictures ever! Well, for the moment. He is always editing something and texting it to me. In that same vein, he has been taking and editing some awesome photos of Sidetracked. I wrote a post awhile back on the Breeze drone that I got him for Christmas. That was our first drone. We were really enjoying learning about it. Actually, he did the reading and learning. I was really on the sidelines just enjoying the actual experience. We found out, however, that our Breeze drone would go only so high before losing signal. Then our hands were tied as far as taking anymore pictures. It would land automatically after one minute of losing signal. So we did not have a problem with crashes, but losing signal regularly.  I will try to go back very soon and add an update to that original post. We ended up going back to the store with the Breeze and trading up for a DJI Phantom 4. So far we have been BEYOND pleased. It flies like a dream and takes amazing photos!

Here you can see my little caboose from a bird’s eye view!  It has been artfully edited.  😉

And here is the complex where my shop is. We have flown the drone nearly two miles away from where we started and it is stunning to see photos of our locale, taken from high in the sky! We have lots more to learn, but this is such an inspiring technology. Already, seeing the photos of the woods around where I live, I want to go hiking and see what’s out there!

I am soon off to tackle my evening errands. Time for an oil change. I need to clean out Ms. Ellie (my Element). I need to stop by the shop. Thank you for all your recent comments! You make my day!

Enjoy this day.

My Christmas Toy: Page Turner Butterfly Pedal

Hey there, and thanks for stopping in! I guess I am officially into music and guitar mode when all I want for Christmas is something to help me play better.  Actually, this gift was a surprise to me from Jason, but I could not have been more excited. It is the PageFlip Butterfly Bluetooth Page Turner Pedal. (affiliate link)

This pedal will let you scroll to the bottom of a page on your android or iPad or tablet, or whatever you have it paired to.  It will let you flip to the next song.  It is great for hands-free page turning.  Ever try to scroll while singing and thinking and holding your guitar with both hands while making chords and strumming?  Yeah, this pedal is great!

We paired it with my iPad (where my music is) last night and tried it out for the first time. The Butterfly is a brand new model.  We are learning all we can and will share information about it.  Jason has the Cicada version.  Look for more posts here about music, recording, and video technology.  I realize everyone is not interested in it, but some are.

Amelia rests.

Here we are heading into Friday evening. I look forward to being in my shop tomorrow. It is cold outside here, so it’s all I can do to even think about gardening or getting outside today. But my mind keeps spinning pretty webs around pictures in my mind, wrapping them up to remember what I want to do this spring.  I am so thankful for today!  Each and every day is a gift.

I hope everyone has an awesome Friday and Saturday!

Enjoy this day!

After-Christmas Sales, and Now We Watch for Spring!

Okay, okay, so it is barely winter. I know we cannot really even see spring on the horizon yet, but it is just the way I am. As soon as Christmas is over, I begin thinking about the coming springtime and plans for the garden. But first, let’s talk about Christmas. I had a delightful time with family. There was a lot of food, as always, and I am very thankful for that. I know there are many who do not have plenty; there are many who do not even have enough.

My beautiful mama with her great-granddaughter.

Prior to Christmas, my sweet mama (http://hennypennylane.blogspot.com) came to visit. We went to see my grandchildren, her great-grandchildren. What a special treat that as soon as the baby saw mama she put out her arms to her. She knew a sweet angel when she saw one!

Um, amazing cat pin. That’s all.

I found this amazing little wooden cat pin recently at The Durham Rescue Mission store. I loved wearing this to visit my grandchildren! Especially the baby girl loved it. I have seven grands, by the way, two biologic and five steps, but my oh my, they are all such lovely, wonderful children, and I love them all!

Cutting up with grandbaby!

My sweet little A, which should stand for “angel-baby,” loved cutting up with grandma in front of the iPad!

Amazing hat, for when I am in the mood for dreadlocks.

After Christmas, looking at the ornaments on sale at Morgan Imports in Durham, I spent some time with my maybe-someday-mother-in-law, a delightful energetic friend whose company I enjoy. The goal now is to get her together with my own sweet mom. I think we’d all have fun out shopping for a day! At any rate, I did not expect to fall in love with a hat while we were out shopping, but this hat feels like it has dreadlocks attached! And I have always secretly loved dreadlocks.

Beautiful ornament purchased at Morgan Imports’ after-Christmas sale.
I love this retro-looking sun face ornament, purchased from Morgan Imports.
OMGOSH. Beans cooked on the grill.

During the Christmas weekend, Jason and I spent some time with his family. I felt it was a complete necessity to get a picture of this rustic cast-iron pot that had been outside on the grill. Would you look at these beans! Oh, they were good.

Now, finally, Jason and I love to play music together and we love making videos. For Christmas I surprised him with a drone — the Breeze 4K (my Amazon affiliate link). We have been wanting more creative ways to video our music. Yesterday we took the Breeze outside for her maiden launch! Then we took her inside to check out what she could do inside. What fun! Look at Mars’ ears.  So far, the Breeze has been an excellent choice for us. Soon we hope to share some more official reviews of the Breeze.  Here is a tiny clip of what we did inside. Believe me, there is more video planned to follow this!  NOTE:  We returned the Breeze 4K and upgraded to a DJI Phantom 4 because the Breeze kept losing signal.  I think the Breeze is a great selfie drone for low altitudes and indoors, but we constantly lost signal each time we went outside and flew above a certain altitude (not very high).
